In my last post, I introduced you to my passion for organizing and shared that I follow Marie Kondo's KonMari Method of tidying. If you missed it, please read it here.

I also said I would show you how you can use the KonMari method to get your physical workspace in order as a first step. We'll tidy the nonphysical aspects later.

The KonMari Method differs from other methods because we tidy by category versus location. There's also a special and important order to tidying. For tidying the workspace, the order is books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and sentimental items. 

Why tidy? Various studies show that clutter has a negative impact on our lives. The top reasons: lowered productivity, a negative mindset, reduced motivation, and diminished happiness. It also adversely affects health. A messy environment taxes the brain which causes us to feel distracted, stressed and anxious, and our decision-making ability is impaired. Clutter is also bad for business. Time spent searching for items and replacing lost items costs money.
